Lou Fusz Lacrosse Spring Rookies Program (boys & girls AGES 6-12)
Lou Fusz Lacrosse is proud to introduce a revamped development model for the fastest sport on two feet! Rookie athletes will participate in one-hour practice 1x a week for 6 weeks with an option for 6 Sunday evening games, rain or shine (games will be held inside)! Practices will consist of up-tempo fundamental drill work (Passing, Catching, Shooting, and more) with an emphasis on instilling a love for the game of lacrosse. Lou Fusz Lacrosse strives on providing top level coaches in a small group environment, aiming to maintain a player to coach ratio of 10:1.
FAQs
What is the weekly time commitment?
Practices - One Hour on Tuesday Nights - 7 PM - 8 PM
Games - One Hour on Sunday Evenings - 5 PM or Later
What type of equipment is needed for this Rookies Program?
You are not required to bring anything to participate! We encourage families to purchase a stick for their Rookie, simply so they can practice at home or with their friends! We will have plenty of sticks for athletes to utilize for practice if needed. We hope our Rookies program can be a cost-effective introduction into the sport of lacrosse.
No helmets? Isn't Boys Lacrosse a contact sport?
There will be no contact or checking during our Rookies program. Lou Fusz Lacrosse will utilize foam "soft" lacrosse balls so our athletes can learn the fundamentals of catching and throwing without worrying about being hit!
How will the games be played?
5x5 small-field games played with small goals and no goalies! When a goal is scored, the team that was scored upon will take the ball to encourage continuous game play. Everyone will play equal minutes! The goal of Lou Fusz Lacrosse Rookies is to instill a love for the sport of lacrosse so official score will not be kept.
How will practice be structured?
Practices will be held with a ratio of 10:1 Coach to Player. Teams will not be separated during practices, in order to encourage all of our Rookies to play together and become friends! All of our coaches will run drills from our Lou Fusz Lacrosse Curriculum emphasizing different fundamentals through fun, high energy instruction. Each practice will end with some sort of game stressing the fundamental of the day!
